Independence Day is one of America’s most beloved holidays. Because it falls right in the middle summer, families can enjoy a weekend escape that will make summer memories. The day is spent grilling hot dogs and burgers, and then everyone gets together to look forward to the fireworks show that will make them proud to be Americans. Why not take the Fourth of July back to the place it all began? Independence Day is celebrated in the nation’s capital. Visit historical sites such as the National Archives museum to view The Declaration of Independence, and the Independence National Historical Park for the famous Liberty Bell. The Wawa Welcome America Party starts early in Philadelphia. The six-day citywide event calendar includes block parties, movies nights, concerts and fireworks. Megan Trainer and Jennifer Hudson are among the top performers this year. A live performance by the United States Army Field Band will accompany the epic firework display. A Fourth of July Firework Cruise is also available. This cruise allows you to be right at the bay for the fireworks display. These tours last approximately two hours, and some even feature themes such as the Great Gatsby. Another popular spot for Fourth of July celebrations is Pier 39. It features live entertainment, great food, and lots of fun for all ages.
The mile-high city celebrates Independence Day! Denver kicks off their Independence Eve celebration early. This free event features a concert light display and pre-fourth fireworks. For their 24th Annual Fourth Fest, head to DICK’S Sporting Goods park. Enjoy America’s favorite pastime sport and watch the Colorado Rapids take on the New England Revolution at 7:15 PM. You can also watch the largest Colorado fireworks display from the field after the game. You might be more interested in thrills than the rides at Elitch Gardens.
